So, you've finished working on your Minecraft server, and, now you're looking for players? Well, you've come to the right place!
Well, you've come to the right place! We'll be outlining several popular advertising methods (that, even some large servers use) to help you get the most out of your new server!
Keep this in mind
This guide will only outline the popular ways of getting players to join your server. Your servers content, quality and play value will be what keep them online!
YouTubers are a great way to get players to join your server, because players love the idea of being in their favorite YouTubers videos. However, once they have finished their video series, a portion of players will leave your server. Though, players will stay becuase they have invested time (and, sometimes even money) into your server, and can't justify starting somewhere else.
If you're on a tight budget, using multiple smaller YouTubers, as opposed to a larger one will be more beneficial. And, sometimes, this method even reaches a larger number of unique players, which results in more joins, and a larger concurrent player count.
Similar to YouTubers, players love the idea of being seen on the screen of their favorite streamer. This method usually brings in a large influx of players during the stream. However, once the stream is over, a very large portion of players will leave.
Unless players can see longterm value (such as a multiple stream series), they will very rarely play your server for what it's worth.
For the average server owner, voting sites are probably the way to go in terms of advertising! When players are looking for new and exciting servers to play on, they will commonly Google "Minecraft Servers", and then click on the first few links, and then look at the first few listings. Don't forget to reward your players for voting for your server using Votifier!
A common misconception is to add your server onto as many voting websites as possible, but, this isn't good! A large number of them aren't effective! Remember, these websites will boast a lot of monthly users, but, 90-95% of them are just players voting for their favorite server, and not anyone interested in joining your server.
Whilst PlanetMinecraft also has a server list that supports Votifier (and, where it's also recommended to add your server), they also have a Live Chat feature, which has a room for advertising servers. So long as you keep within the rules, posting about your server, and linking to your listing is a very good way of attracting new potential players!
It's important to keep in mind that this method will not bring in a lot of players. However, the more, the merrier, so, why not do it? There is literally nothing to lose, and a lot to gain.
